1. Overview
At The Tech Plug, we aim to get your order to you as quickly and safely as possible. This Shipping Policy outlines how we process, handle, and deliver orders placed through our website at thetechplug.co.za or in-store. Please read this policy carefully before placing your order.
2. Order Processing
Once your order has been placed and payment has been confirmed, we will begin processing your order. Please take note of the following:
- Orders placed during business hours are typically processed the same day, subject to stock availability and payment verification.
- Orders placed towards the end of the business day, after hours, or over weekends and public holidays will be processed on the next available business day. This is when your order is formally recognised in our system and handed over for fulfilment.
- “Processing” refers to the internal verification, packaging, and handover of your order to our courier partner. It does not mean your order has been dispatched yet.
We do not process or dispatch orders on Sundays or South African public holidays.
3. Business Days
For the purposes of this policy, business days are Monday to Friday, excluding South African public holidays. Delivery timeframes referenced in this policy are calculated in business days and do not include weekends or public holidays.
4. Dispatch Timeframes
Once your order has been processed, it will be dispatched within the following timeframes:
- Standard orders: Dispatched within 1–2 business days after processing.
- High-demand or pre-order items: May take longer. You will be notified of any delays at the time of order or as soon as we become aware.
You will receive a confirmation notification once your order has been dispatched, which will include tracking information where applicable.
5. Delivery Timeframes
Delivery timeframes are estimated and begin from the date of dispatch, not the date of order. Estimated delivery times are as follows:
- Cape Town (local): 1–2 business days after dispatch.
- Major cities and surrounding areas (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, etc.): 2–3 business days after dispatch.
- Remote or outlying areas: 3–5 business days after dispatch, or longer depending on courier access.
These are estimates only. The Tech Plug is not responsible for delays caused by the courier, adverse weather conditions, high-volume periods, or other circumstances beyond our control.
6. Shipping Costs
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your delivery address, the size and weight of your order, and the selected delivery option. Shipping costs will be clearly displayed before you confirm your order.
We reserve the right to update shipping rates at any time. Any changes will be reflected at checkout and will not affect orders already confirmed.
7. Delivery Address
It is your responsibility to provide a complete and accurate delivery address at the time of ordering. The Tech Plug will not be held liable for non-delivery or delayed delivery resulting from an incorrect or incomplete address provided by the customer.
If a delivery is returned to us due to an incorrect address, the customer will be responsible for the cost of re-delivery.
8. Order Tracking
Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive tracking details via email or SMS, depending on the information provided at checkout. You can use these details to monitor the progress of your delivery directly with the courier.

9. Failed or Missed Deliveries
If a delivery attempt is unsuccessful due to no one being available to receive the order, the courier will typically make a second attempt or leave a notification. It is the customer’s responsibility to follow up with the courier using the provided tracking information.
The Tech Plug will not be liable for delays or additional costs resulting from a failed delivery due to the customer’s unavailability.
10. Damaged or Incorrect Items on Delivery
If your order arrives damaged or you receive an incorrect item, you must notify us within 24 hours of delivery through thetechplug.co.za. Please retain all original packaging and take photographs of the damage or incorrect item, as this will be required for us to investigate and resolve the matter.
Claims made outside of the 24-hour window may not be considered. This clause does not affect your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
11. Risk and Ownership
Risk of loss or damage to your order passes to you upon delivery and acceptance of the goods. Ownership of the goods passes to you once full payment has been received and confirmed by The Tech Plug.
12. In-Store Collection
Customers who prefer to collect their order in-store at 10 Newent Street, Cape Town, may select this option at checkout where available. Collection orders will be ready for pickup once you have received a notification confirming that your order is ready. Please bring your proof of purchase when collecting.
13. Shipping Limitations
We currently ship to addresses within South Africa only. We do not offer international shipping at this time. If you are unsure whether we deliver to your area, please contact us before placing your order.
